1 lg. onion, quartered and sliced
1 beef bottom round roast (3 #)
1/2 c. dry white wine or water
1 pkg. (3/4 oz. ) au jus gravy mix
1/8 t. seasoned pepper
Place onion in slow cooker. Trim excess fat from roast. Place in slow cooker. Stir together wine or water, au jus mix, and pepper. Pour over roast. Cover and cook on high 5-6 hr. or low 10-12 hr. (until very tender). Remove meat from liquid, let stand 5 min., slice thinly across grain. Make sandwiches on hard rolls or French bread, using meat and onions. Serve broth for dipping.
